A growing manufacturing business in the South West is looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to support the next phase of its growth. This is a key role within the business, working closely with senior leaders to improve financial performance, controls, and reporting. This is not a purely transactional role – you will play an active part in driving commercial decisions, improving processes, and supporting growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets
  • Take ownership of P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reporting
  • Deliver weekly and monthly financial performance reporting
  • Manage budgeting and track spend across departments
  • Provide analysis on profitability, costs, and performance
  • Monitor cashflow, working capital, debtors, and creditors
  • Improve financial controls and reporting processes
  • Support audit, VAT, payroll, and compliance requirements
  • Work closely with operations, sales, and procurement teams
  • Support ERP / system improvements and reporting accuracy
  • Mentor and support junior finance team members

About you

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience
  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
  • Strong background in manufacturing, engineering, or a similar environment
  • Confident with budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills (ERP experience preferred)
  • Hands-on, detail-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced setting
  • Good communicator, able to work with non-finance stakeholders
  • Commercially aware and proactive in improving performance
