An established and growing accountancy practice is seeking a Tax Assistant to join its team and work closely with an experienced Tax Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with personal tax experience who is looking to develop their career within practice. The role will involve preparing personal tax returns, supporting clients with their tax affairs, assisting with HMRC communications and contributing to more complex tax and trust work.
Role Responsibilities
- Gather, organise and review information received from clients.
- Prepare and file personal tax returns accurately and within relevant deadlines.
- Assist with HMRC communications and correspondence.
- Ensure client tax deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
- Support the Tax Manager with larger and more complex tax projects.
- Assist clients with the Making Tax Digital (MTD) process.
- Provide support with trust-related tax work.
- Maintain accurate and organised client records.
- Liaise with clients to obtain outstanding information and documentation.
Personal Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working on personal tax returns, ideally 2+ years.
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice is preferred.
- ATT qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Good communication skills with the confidence to deal directly with clients.
- Able to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
- A willingness to develop technical tax knowledge and progress within the role.
- The firm is open to supporting ATT studies for the right candidate.
