Job Description
Are you a qualified accountant with strong processes and hands-on finance management experience? This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-driven charity making a real social impact.
We are looking for a Head of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership, oversee the finance function, and implement robust processes to maintain the highest standards of financial governance. This is a part-time position (2-3 days per week) offered on a 12-month contract, with the majority of work carried out remotely. Attendance in the office is required only once per month.
In this role, you will lead and support the finance team, working closely with senior leadership and trustees to ensure effective financial management across the organisation. You will play a key role in shaping organisational strategy, managing financial risks, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and driving improvements in financial processes and reporting. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership skills to contribute to the organisation's growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities

Produce monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and KPIs

Lead on year-end statutory accounts and audit management

Develop financial strategy and ensure regulatory compliance (Charity Commission, SORP, HMRC, pensions)

Oversee payroll and pension schemes, liaising with external providers

Manage financial systems (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and payroll systems

Risk management across finance and IT, business continuity planning, and insurance

Complete government returns

Line management of the Finance Manager and oversight of the finance team

Work collaboratively with non-financial managers, senior leadership, and trustees

Support change management and digital transformation projects
About You

Qualified Accountant

Strong communicator and strategic thinker, with analytical and critical thinking skills

Experience in charity is an advantage
