General Practice Accountant
Location: Cross Gates, Leeds
Salary: £45,000 (Negotiable DOE)
Butler Rose North Practice is partnering with this ambitious and growing independent small accountancy practice in Cross Gates, Leeds, to recruit a General Practice Accountant.

The Opportunity
This is a broad and varied role offering exposure across all areas of a busy accountancy practice. You'll work closely with the Directors, support a diverse client portfolio, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm.
The successful candidate will enjoy being office-based, collaborating with colleagues, sharing ideas, and being part of a friendly team where every individual makes a genuine impact.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of SME, owner-managed business, and limited company clients.
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts for a variety of clients.
- Preparation and review of management accounts.
- Corporation Tax compliance and preparation of tax returns.
- Preparation and review of Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
- VAT return preparation and review.
- Assisting clients with accounting and business queries.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and building long-term relationships.
- Reviewing work completed by junior team members.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing trainees and junior accountants.
- Supporting the Directors with practice management and operational responsibilities.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Providing a high level of client service and commercial advice.
Experience & Skills Required
- ACA / ACCA Qualified, Part Qualified, or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Experience working within a UK Accountancy Practice.
- Strong experience in accounts preparation and general practice accounting.
- Experience preparing Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Experience reviewing and supporting junior members of staff.
- Good knowledge of cloud accounting software, including Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
