Butler Rose have been exclusively retained by Gedye & Sons Solicitors to aid with their search for a number 1 in finance. This is a key role at an important time of their growth. They are a long established firm of solicitors with 2 sites. Last year they had a turnover over £1.2 million with more signs of growth this year. They are a highly regarded firm, with a strong and dynamic staff.
This is a great time to join this highly regarded firm and be a key figure in the management team all of whom have been with the firm in excess of ten years.
The role arises due to retirement.

Your new role as Management Accountant/Financial Controller:
Your duties will include:
- Maintaining precise and up-to-date records of the company’s banking transactions and ensuring the firm’s client account complies with SRA and Law Society regulations, including full monthly reconciliation and balancing.
- Preparing and delivering monthly management accounts—covering cash flow, P&L, and balance sheet—along with KPI reporting, all within strict deadlines.
- Overseeing the entire billing process for fee earners, conducting full month-end audits and reporting, and managing outstanding invoices, including issuing warning letters where necessary.
- Preparing annual budget forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Acting as a key liaison with company bankers, accountants, and external auditors, particularly during the annual audit process.
- Supervising payroll operations, HMRC reconciliations, fixed asset register maintenance, and providing ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
The Experience & Qualifications Required:
The successful Candidate shall have:
- Strong analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- High level of Microsoft Excel skills including competency in dealing with high volumes of data, XERO and legal case management system preferred but not essential.
- Proven commercial acumen within a legal firm is highly desirable.
Your Reward & The Package on Offer:
As Management Accountant/Financial Controller, you shall receive:
- A salary of up to £55,000 per annum depending on experience.
- 25 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays and 2+ additional days at Xmas.
- 35 hours a week.
- Contributory pension scheme.
