Butler Rose is recruiting on behalf of a well-established business in the Carlisle area for an experienced Senior Payroll Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong end-to-end payroll experience who is looking to join a supportive team where accuracy and customer service are valued.
The Role
As a Senior Payroll Assistant, you'll take ownership of payroll processes while supporting colleagues across the wider finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing end-to-end payroll accurately and on time
- Managing starters, leavers, and payroll amendments
- Calculating statutory payments, pensions, and deductions
- Handling employee payroll queries professionally and efficiently
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring HMRC compliance
- Producing payroll reports and supporting reconciliations
- Assisting with process improvements and supporting junior team members where required
About You
- Previous experience in a Senior Payroll Assistant or Payroll role
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and pensions
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident using payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- A proactive, team-focused approach with excellent communication skills
