A well-established and growing Chartered Accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Business Services Accounts Manager to join its dynamic team in Cambridge. This is a newly created position driven by continued growth, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a significant client portfolio and play a key role in delivering high-quality outsourced finance, compliance, and advisory services. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, oversee both UK and offshore teams, and help shape the continued development of the business services function.
Role Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of a mixed client portfolio.
- Deliver timely statutory accounts, management accounts, and advisory services.
- Review statutory accounts under FRS 105 and FRS 102 (Section 1A).
- Oversee preparation and review of corporate tax computations and returns.
- Provide input on tax planning and tax-efficient remuneration strategies.
- Review VAT returns and bookkeeping prepared by junior staff.
- Supervise and support both UK-based and offshore accounting teams.
- Manage client onboarding across Xero, Sage, IRIS and related systems.
- Deliver training and ongoing support to clients and internal teams.
- Monitor WIP, billing, profitability, and charge-out rates.
- Support workflow management and departmental deadline tracking.
- Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and service delivery.
Personal Requirements
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- Minimum 4+ years' UK practice experience.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and corporate tax.
- Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage, IRIS).
- Strong working knowledge of IRIS and CCH (including CCH AP and CCH Corporation Tax desirable).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, including remote/offshore teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters simply.
- Commercial mindset with a focus on client service and value creation.
- Highly organised with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
