A well-established accountancy practice in Spalding is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its friendly and supportive team. This is a varied client-facing role offering genuine autonomy, with responsibility for managing your own workload and supporting a portfolio of clients across their bookkeeping and accounting needs. The role would suit an experienced practice bookkeeper looking to gain greater variety and responsibility.
Role Responsibilities
- Preparing bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of clients.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Completing bank and control account reconciliations.
- Reviewing client records and identifying queries or discrepancies.
- Preparing accounts to trial balance stage.
- Assisting with interim and management information.
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve bookkeeping queries.
- Working with cloud accounting software, including Xero.
- Supporting the wider accounts and taxation team.
- Managing your own workload and ensuring deadlines are met.
Personal Requirements
- Good bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice.
- Experience preparing VAT returns.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Confidence communicating directly with clients.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own work.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues.
- Experience preparing accounts to trial balance would be advantageous.
- AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or qualified by experience.
- Experience with Xero would be particularly useful.
- Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
