Accounts Senior | Practice Basildon Β£40,000 - Β£45,000 An established accountancy practice is seeking a fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant to join their team and work with a diversified portfolio of SME clients. This is a hands-on production role, suited to an accountant with experience across accounts, tax and audit who is comfortable applying their knowledge across a wide range of industries. The successful candidate will be principally based from the firm's Basildon office, with some travel to client sites required. Role Responsibilities Prepare statutory and year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of SME clients, including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. Prepare and assist with a range of UK tax compliance work across a diverse client base. Undertake audit work for clients across a range of industries. Manage your own portfolio of SME clients and build strong working relationships with them. Apply accounting and tax knowledge to a wide range of client circumstances and industries. Ensure accounts and tax work is completed accurately and in line with relevant UK regulations and accounting standards. Prepare and analyse financial information and communicate findings clearly to clients. Utilise accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage alongside Microsoft Excel. Travel to client sites as required. Personal Requirements Fully qualified ACA or ACCA. A strong accountancy practice background with hands-on experience across accounts, tax and audit. Ideally two or more years' post-qualified experience, although strong and ambitious newly qualified accountants will also be considered. Experience working with a varied portfolio of SME clients. Strong working knowledge of UK accounting and tax regulations. Good understanding of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and Companies House requirements. Able to work confidently across a broad range of industries and client types. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Self-motivated, proactive and able to manage workloads effectively. Strong communication and client relationship skills.
