A friendly and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Cambridge is seeking an Accounts & Tax Assistant to join their growing team. This role offers a broad and varied workload, ideal for someone looking to deepen their experience across accounts preparation, corporation and personal tax, and VAT, with the opportunity to get involved in tax disclosure and practice operations.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for micro-entities, primarily using Xero.
- Prepare corporation and personal tax returns for a wide range of clients.
- Submit VAT returns and liaise with clients to ensure accurate submissions.
- Assist with personal tax returns.
- Opportunity to learn payroll processing and support a small in-house payroll function (10-15 clients).
- Support the migration of the practice management system to Xero, helping to onboard existing clients to the new system.
Personal Requirements
- AAT qualified or studying ACA/ACCA/ATT.
- At least 2 years' experience in an accountancy practice.
- Confident working with cloud software such as Xero; knowledge of TaxCalc or similar desirable.
- Keen to learn and take on new responsibilities across tax and practice systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A good communicator who enjoys working in a team.
