Butler Rose is delighted to be partnering with a well-established, multi-site organisation in the recruitment of an experienced Payroll Manager.
This is a key leadership position within a centralised finance function, taking responsibility for the accurate and compliant delivery of multiple UK payrolls whilst leading a newly formed payroll team.
This is a fully office-based position with flexiblestart times, based in South Oxfordshire
The Role
Reporting into the Director, you will take ownership of the UK payroll function, ensuring an accurate, efficient and compliant end-to-end payroll service.
Key challenges and areas of focus will include:
- Managing the delivery of seven UK payrolls covering approximately 1,100 employees
- Leading, developing and embedding a newly recruited payroll team
- Managing the relationship and service delivery with Cintra
- Improving and optimising Workday and SAP integrations
- Supporting the implementation of ServiceNow workflows
- Strengthening payroll governance and relationships with HR and Finance stakeholders
- Ensuring full compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and RTI reporting
- Driving greater automation, process improvement and efficiency
- Maintaining robust payroll controls, reconciliations and audit processes
The Payroll Manager will also act as the organisations UK payroll subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to senior stakeholders across HR, Finance and Operations.
The Person
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager with a strong technical understanding of UK payroll legislation and demonstrable experience managing an in-house payroll operation. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience leading and developing a payroll team
- Strong payroll compliance, reconciliations and controls experience
- Experience working with integrated HR/payroll systems
- A track record of delivering payroll process improvement and change
- Strong Excel and data management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
Experience within a manufacturing, multi-site or shared services type environment would be particularly beneficial, as would exposure to Cintra, SAP and Workday.
