Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Senior Payroll Clerk for a well-established organisation based in Yeovil. This is a fully office-based position, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of high-volume payroll operations within a supportive and stable environment.
Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of both weekly and monthly payrolls, while supporting and developing a team of Payroll Administrators.
Key responsibilities:- Manage weekly and monthly payrolls end-to-end
- Review and validate payroll inputs, including salaries, benefits and deductions
- Process statutory payments including PAYE, National Insurance and pension contributions
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure data integrity
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal policies
- Conduct payroll audits and resolve discrepancies
- Support complex pay structures and timesheet processes
- Respond to payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
- Supervise, coach and develop Payroll Administrators
- Produce payroll reports and support internal stakeholders
- Proven experience in a Senior Payroll or similar role
- Experience managing high-volume payrolls for a minimum of 600 employees
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring team members
- Ability to reliably commute to Yeovil
- Confident user of Excel
