Are you an experienced AUDIT SENIOR looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work, build strong client relationships and develop your career within a growing practice?
Butler Rose Public Practice Northern Division is delighted to be working with an established and growing independent accountancy and audit practice based in Wilmslow.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Audit Senior to join their close-knit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified professional, or an experienced Audit Senior, to take on a key role within a varied and progressive practice.
Please note: a full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this position, as the role involves occasional travel to client premises.
THE ROLE
Working closely with Managers and Directors, you will take responsibility for delivering a range of external audit assignments from planning through to completion.
You will work with an interesting and diverse client portfolio spanning a range of sectors, including motor dealerships, FCA-regulated businesses, charities, retail organisations and UK subsidiaries of international groups, as well as owner-managed businesses.
The role is predominantly audit-focused, although there is also the opportunity to gain exposure to accounts preparation and corporation tax for clients where appropriate.

- Tax Calc supporting accounts and corporation tax work. The audit methodology is based on
Mercia .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and completing external audit assignments from start to finish
- Taking ownership of allocated audit areas and ensuring files are completed accurately and efficiently
- Attending client premises to undertake audit fieldwork
- Working closely with Managers and Directors throughout the audit process
- Building strong, professional relationships with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact
- Identifying and communicating audit issues and areas requiring further investigation
- Reviewing the work of more junior members of the team and providing guidance and support
- Working to agreed deadlines and budgets while maintaining high-quality standards
- Supporting the wider team with accounts and corporation tax work where required
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the practice
ABOUT YOU
You will be technically capable, commercially aware and confident dealing directly with clients.
Ideally, you will have
- ACA or ACCA qualification, or be part-qualified with strong progress through your studies
- Several years experience within external audit
- Strong knowledge of audit procedures and statutory requirements
- Experience working across a varied portfolio of clients
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Experience using audit software MWP experience would be advantageous
- Familiarity with IRIS and Tax Calc would be beneficial
- Experience of Mercia methodology would be advantageous, although not essential
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team
- A proactive, professional and commercially aware approach
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car
An experienced Audit Senior who is qualified by experience will also be considered.
- WHATS ON OFFER
- £37,500 - £40,000 salary, depending on qualification and experience
- Hybrid working once established within the role and familiar with the firms systems and methodology
- Typically 3 days office-based and 2 days working from home once fully up to speed
