An exceptionally rare opportunity - roles like this simply don't come around often. Butler Rose Lancashire & Cumbria is proud to be supporting a long-standing and highly respected private client in the South Lakes with the recruitment of an Assistant to the Director's Office. This is not a typical PA or administrative role. It is a trusted, varied and high-exposure position, supporting a private family and their diverse portfolio of businesses. No two days are the same - one moment you may be coordinating complex business schedules, the next supporting private engagements or high-profile events. You'll work closely with the Office's Executive Assistant and act as a key point of support to the wider senior leadership team. Discretion, professionalism and emotional intelligence are essential, as is a genuine desire to grow and progress within a unique and prestigious environment. This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-moving setting, enjoys responsibility, and wants to build a long-term career rather than just take a job.

The Role - What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing complex and ever-changing business and personal diaries with absolute precision
  • Coordinating detailed UK and international travel arrangements, including itineraries, accommodation, documentation and currency
  • Preparing reports, presentations and board-level paperwork, and attending meetings to take accurate minutes where required
  • Acting as a key liaison between the Principal's Office, senior executives and wider stakeholders
  • Ensuring information flows efficiently, accurately and confidentially
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of bespoke events, including private functions, fundraising dinners and high-profile visits
  • Maintaining oversight of important licences, memberships and compliance documentation
  • Managing expenses, credit card reconciliations and petty cash
  • Overseeing incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Maintaining structured and secure filing systems
  • Managing office supplies and day-to-day administrative requirements
  • Responding promptly and professionally to requests from the private family
  • Being available and adaptable to support the family as required, including ad-hoc and time-sensitive needs

Please note: There will be a requirement to support key seasonal events, including some weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays (with advance notice provided).

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a similar senior administrative, PA or private office role
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong Microsoft Office and virtual platform capability
  • Confident, personable and professional when dealing with senior stakeholders and external guests
  • Highly adaptable, proactive and unflappable under pressure
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines with accuracy
  • Comfortable being public-facing at events and engagements
  • Naturally forward-thinking, able to anticipate needs before they arise
  • Absolute discretion when handling sensitive or confidential matters
  • A full UK driving licence

The Offer

  • Salary: £30,000 (negotiable depending on experience)
  • Hours: 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday (with flexibility required around key events)
  • A genuinely rare opportunity to step into a trusted role with long-term progression potential
  • Exposure to senior decision-makers and a broad, fascinating remit
  • A role where your contribution truly matters
