An established independent accountancy practice in Old Trafford is looking for an experienced Healthcare Personal Tax Specialist to join its specialist team. The practice has a long-established client base, with a particular focus on GPs, medical consultants, dentists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with healthcare-sector tax experience who wants genuine autonomy, long-term client responsibility and the opportunity to become a key figure within an established practice. Working initially alongside the practice owner, you will gradually take responsibility for an established portfolio, becoming the trusted day-to-day adviser to your clients. There is also potential for the right individual to become involved in the long-term succession planning of the practice.
THE ROLE
You will have a strong focus on personal tax, alongside wider accounting and advisory responsibilities.
KEY AREAS WILL INCLUDE
- Managing an established portfolio of healthcare clients
- Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
- Providing personal tax advice and planning
- Working with GPs, dentists, pharmacists, consultants and other medical professionals
- Dealing with clients with varied income streams, investments and business interests
- Applying knowledge of healthcare-specific tax and accounting considerations
- Reviewing accounts and identifying tax or accounting issues
- Liaising with clients, HMRC and other stakeholders
- Increasingly taking ownership of client relationships and the wider portfolio
What We're Looking For
Healthcare experience is essential. You should have previous experience within an accountancy practice and a strong background in personal tax, ideally with exposure to:
- GP and medical partnerships
- Healthcare professionals
- NHS-related income and pensions
- Healthcare VAT and/or locum taxation
- Tax planning and advisory work
ACA, ACCA, CTA, part-qualified or QBE candidates will be considered. Technical ability, healthcare experience and the confidence to manage clients autonomously are more important than qualification status alone.
This is more than a traditional tax role. The owner is looking to gradually reduce his day-to-day involvement and is seeking someone he can trust to take care of his established client base. For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to progress towards greater responsibility, practice management and part of the long term succession planning of the practice. If you have the healthcare tax experience and are looking for a role with autonomy, stability and genuine long-term potential, this could be an excellent opportunity.
