Butler Rose is supporting a well-established commercial manufacturing and trading business in the recruitment of a hands-on Finance Manager. This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the full finance function, from day-to-day transactional processes to strategic financial planning and managing one direct report. The successful candidate will be prepared to cover all aspects of the finance function, ensuring accuracy, compliance and continuity across financial operations. Experience with finance system implementation would be an advantage. This is an office based position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full finance function, including reporting, payroll (including CIS), budgets, cash flow and statutory compliance.
- Supervise and support one direct report, providing guidance and performance management.
- Prepare and present management accounts, P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
- Conduct cost analysis, identify areas for improvement and contribute to process transformation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Liaise with external service providers such as auditors, tax advisors, and banks.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a manufacturing, trading, or commercial construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems; experience with ERP or system implementation is advantageous.
- Comfortable managing the full finance function and one direct report.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise across the business.
- High attention to detail and integrity, with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for reporting and analysis.
