Butler Rose are delighted to be working with an independent firm of accountants based in Blackburn who are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Semi Senior to join their friendly and established team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected accountancy practice with a loyal client base across the North West. The firm has been established for over 20 years and works with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies across sectors including construction, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, property, professional services and more. THE ROLE
This is a varied practice role with no audit work involved. You will be responsible for preparing accounts and tax work for a broad range of clients, while also supporting junior members of the team and maintaining strong client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
- Preparing self-assessment tax returns
- VAT returns, bookkeeping and management accounts
- Preparing journals including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
- Liaising with clients by phone, email and face to face
- Supporting, mentoring and reviewing junior team members' work
- Managing deadlines and contributing to the smooth running of monthly workflows
The firm uses a range of modern accountancy systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Dext, TaxCalc, BrightPay and Bright Manager, so experience with any of these would be beneficial.
ABOUT YOU
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification practice experience
- A genuine interest in current accountancy trends and changes in the industry
- Passionate about continued learning and career development
- Good knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and tax
- Experience supporting junior team members
- Confident communication skills and a client-focused approach
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlines
- A positive, team-focused attitude
- Payroll experience would be useful but is not essential
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- £35,000 - £38,000 pro rata, depending on experience
- 37.5 hour week, with flexibility on hours considered
