We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Director to lead a growing corporate tax function within a well-established accountancy practice in Greater Manchester. This is a senior leadership role, offering the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of corporate clients, deliver high-value advisory services, and shape the strategic direction of the tax team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in corporate tax, strong leadership skills, and the ability to develop talent within the team while maintaining excellent client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the corporate tax function, ensuring high-quality advisory and compliance services.
- Oversee a portfolio of corporate clients, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and larger corporate groups.
- Provide strategic tax planning advice, including corporate structuring, R&D incentives, capital allowances, international tax, and M&A due diligence.
- Act as the primary liaison with HMRC for senior client matters, risk management, and complex queries.
- Mentor senior and junior tax team members, promoting professional development and technical excellence.
- Support business development initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand advisory services and attract new clients.
- Manage budgeting, billing, and WIP for the corporate tax department, ensuring efficiency and profitability.
- Stay current with tax legislation and professional developments, providing thought leadership internally and externally.
REQUIREMENTS
- ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified.
- 10+ years' corporate tax experience in professional practice or corporate advisory, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience managing a large and complex client portfolio independently.
- Expertise in advisory projects, including international tax, share valuations, restructuring, and M&A.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring senior and junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement, team leadership, and stakeholder management.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and business development acumen.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Base Salary: £65,000 - £90,000 per year (depending on experience). Total compensation includes performance-based incentives, benefits, and referral bonuses. Generous holiday allowance, flexible benefits, pension contributions, and other perks.
