Butler Rose are currently recruiting for an experienced Procurement Specialist on behalf of a growing business based in Honiton. This is a full-time temporary position for an initial 3-6 months, with the strong potential to become permanent for the right individual. This role will suit a hands-on purchasing professional who enjoys supplier interaction, stock control, and working closely with internal stakeholders across product development, manufacturing, distribution, and customer support.
The Role
Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing purchasing activity across a diverse supplier base. You will play a key part in supplier management, stock control, and ensuring continuity of supply while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Management
- Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of suppliers
- Ensure products are delivered on time, to the required quality and at competitive cost
- Support supplier selection, onboarding and compliance processes
- Assist with negotiations and commercial discussions
- Work closely with product development teams to support new product introduction
- Produce reports and analysis on spend, cost savings, KPIs and supplier performance
- Maintain and update inventory and purchasing records
- Monitor stock levels to ensure customer demand is met
- Forecast stock requirements and monitor stock value, including aged or obsolete items
- Act as an escalation point for supply-related issues
- Coordinate with manufacturing, warehouse and distribution teams
- Source alternative suppliers where required to mitigate supply risk
About You
- Previous experience in a procurement role
- Comfortable managing supplier relationships and contributing to negotiations
- Experience using MRP and/or ERP systems
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Well organised, analytical and able to work cross-functionally
