Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an award-winning manufacturer based in the Plymouth area, who are looking to appoint a Production Team Leader to join their growing team. The Role

As Production Team Leader, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of your team, ensuring production targets, quality standards and operational objectives are consistently achieved. You'll play a key role in driving a high-performance culture, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership
    • Lead your team to achieve production, quality and efficiency targets
    • Monitor shift performance and take action to recover against plan
    • Plan and prioritise workloads, resolving issues quickly and effectively
    • Collaborate with other Team Leaders and departments to ensure smooth operations
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean
    • Drive improvements across productivity, output and waste reduction
    • Apply tools such as SMED, standard work and data‑led performance tracking
    • Support the ongoing development of lean manufacturing practices
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team
    • Conduct regular 1:1s, set objectives and provide feedback
    • Support training plans and ensure all team members are competent in their roles
    • Contribute to recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning
  • Health, Safety & Quality
    • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with H&S procedures
    • Ensure all work meets defined quality standards and procedures
    • Lead investigations, resolve issues and drive improvements in quality and performance

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience leading and developing teams within a manufacturing or production environment
  • A track record of achieving production, quality and performance KPIs
  • Strong problem‑solving skills (e.g. 5 Whys, 8D or similar)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques
  • A proactive, hands‑on leadership style with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of health & safety standards within a manufacturing setting
