Accounts Assistant on a part-time fixed-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys a varied accounting role with a strong focus on transactional processing, debtor management and financial reporting .
Joining a collaborative finance team, you will play an important part in maintaining strong cash flow, supporting month-end activities and ensuring robust financial processes are followed across the business.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Finance and Commercial Manager and wider finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing customer accounts, ensuring outstanding balances are collected efficiently and supporting the delivery of accurate financial information to key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include
- Managing customer accounts and proactively collecting outstanding debts in line with agreed payment terms.
- Producing regular debtor reports to assist with cash flow forecasting and business decision-making.
- Preparing daily and weekly management reports, ensuring data accuracy across financial systems.
- Supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Providing support across the purchase ledger function, including invoice processing and supplier statement reconciliations.
- Maintaining high levels of financial control and identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting efficiency.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience within an accounts or finance environment and be comfortable working with both sales and purchase ledger processes.
You will ideally bring
- Experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or finance administration role.
- A solid understanding of sales ledger, purchase ledger and VAT processes.
- Experience producing and analysing financial reports.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation.
- Those who hold, or are currently studying towards, an
- AAT qualification will be particularly well suited to the role. Experience with
SAP ERP would be advantageous but is not essential.
