An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the finance team of a large and highly successful business at their Head Office in Plymouth. This role will see you take responsibility for several cost centres - ensuring all expenditure is accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills, great attention to detail, and a passion for financial accuracy to join a well-established organisation with a supportive and collaborative working culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a selection of cost centres and balance sheet codes
  • Post and evidence monthly accruals, prepayments and other journals as required
  • Analyse costs versus budgets and communicate key variances to the Finance Manager team
  • Process company expenses and credit card expenditure
  • Code expenditure invoices via the data capture system, ensuring payment deadlines are met
  • Conduct aged creditor reviews and supplier statement reconciliations
  • Support budgeting and reforecasting activities
  • Play a key role in meeting month-end and year-end deadlines
  • Undertake ad-hoc finance tasks as required

Skills & Requirements

  • Financial qualification (AAT or equivalent) preferred
  • Previous experience within a similar finance or accounts role
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
  • Confident IT user with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work 5 days a week in office
