A Top 40 Accounting Firm is seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Senior to join its Peterborough team. You will manage a varied portfolio of external clients, prepare accounts and tax work, support audit assignments and review junior colleagues' work, while working closely with managers, partners and clients. The role offers a supportive environment with opportunities to develop your technical and client-facing skills.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies.
- Prepare independent examinations for charity clients for Partner sign-off.
- Assist managers with client audit assignments.
- Prepare cash flow statements and supporting schedules.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information.
- Complete assignments accurately, within budget and to agreed deadlines.
- Prepare draft tax computations and schedules for tax returns.
- Prepare year-end accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Review work completed by junior members of the team.
- Support the development and training of junior staff.
- Complete VAT returns.
Personal Requirements
- Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
- ACA, ACCA or ACA CTA qualified, or actively working towards a relevant qualification.
- Proven experience preparing accounts for a varied portfolio of external clients.
- Experience across accounts and audit within a practice environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and UK practice procedures.
- Good IT skills and familiarity with accounts and/or audit software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Able to manage your own workload and work effectively to deadlines and budgets.
- Confident communicating with clients and resolving queries.
- Comfortable reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues.
- Willingness to travel to clients and other offices when required.
- Highly organised, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work.
- Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
