Butler Rose is delighted to be working alongside a public sector client based in Harrow. They are seeking an experienced Service Accountant to provide professional financial support to Children's Services. This is an approximately 3-6 month role, with the potential for extension. The role offers hybrid working and will pay up to Β£425 per day via umbrella.
The post holder will act as the dedicated finance link for the service, reporting to the Finance Business Partner for Children & Education, and will play a key role in supporting effective financial management and decision-making.
Key responsibilities:- Leading budget setting for Children's Services
- Monitoring and forecasting revenue and capital budgets
- Managing grants and completing required statistical and financial returns
- Supporting and coordinating year-end accounts for Children's Services
- Providing clear, timely financial advice to senior managers
- Ensuring compliance with local authority financial regulations and accounting standards
- The successful candidate will be a CCAB-qualified accountant (or near finalist with significant relevant experience)
- The successful candidate will have strong local authority finance experience, particularly within Children's Services or similar complex service areas.
- They will demonstrate excellent analytical skills, the ability to communicate financial information clearly, and the confidence to act as a trusted advisor to service managers.
- Demonstrates resilience, results-driven mindset, and the ability to quickly grasp tasks with minimal direction.
