Butler Rose Lancashire & Cumbria are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a growing, well-established business based in Morecambe, who are looking to strengthen their Purchasing team with the addition of an experienced Purchasing Coordinator. The business is experiencing a period of rapid growth and is seeking a proactive, organised individual to support purchasing operations and ensure continuity of stock, supplier performance, and service levels as the company continues to expand.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £30k + company bonus
  • Generous monthly company bonus scheme (following successful completion of probation)
  • Holidays: 20 days plus 8 bank holidays
  • Option to buy back up to 5 additional days holiday

The Role

Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will play a key role in day-to-day purchasing activity, supplier liaison, and stock control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activity to ensure continuity of stock and supply
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify purchasing requirements
  • Produce and maintain daily stock, order, and purchasing reports
  • Raise and process purchase orders, confirming product specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements with suppliers
  • Obtain, evaluate, and negotiate supplier quotations, making informed recommendations on pricing and supply options
  • Plan and schedule orders to support production demands and stock availability targets
  • Track purchase orders through to delivery, ensuring timelines are met and resolving delays where necessary
  • Actively liaise with suppliers to confirm order status, amendments, and delivery updates
  • Manage special orders and direct-to-customer deliveries, ensuring accurate communication with internal sales teams and customers
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure goods are received, booked in, and delivered in good condition
  • Investigate delivery discrepancies and manage supplier queries or returns as required
  • Support overseas purchasing activity, including order tracking and customs clearance processes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records and documentation
  • Review supplier pricing regularly and support cost control initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a purchasing or buying role
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High levels of organisation with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to change
  • A positive attitude when faced with challenges
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
