Butler Rose is delighted to be partnered with this innovative and exciting SME digital media and content business who are looking for a proactive and highly organised Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to truly make the role their own, manage a small but busy finance function and play a key part in supporting strategic decision-making across a multi-company group.
This brand new role will be well suited to either someone currently working in the capacity of Management Accountant, perhaps looking to take the next step in their career and with some supervision/management experience within SMEs, or someone who is perhaps already a Finance Manager within an SME setting and is looking for a new challenge in a modern and vibrant environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the accounting for multiple companies within the group
- Manage and reconcile intercompany balances and recharges
- Review bookkeeper postings to ensure accuracy across AP, AR and nominal
- Lineâmanage, supervise and support the bookkeeper
- Process journals and maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
- Complete all balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare yearâend management accounts and information packs for external accountants
- Liaise with external accountants on statutory accounts, corporation tax and compliance
- Assist with budget and forecast preparation
- Maintain rolling cashflow and profit forecasts
- Perform revenue data analysis
- Review and submit VAT returns for multiple companies
- Dayâtoâday cashflow management across all companies
- Manage intercompany cash transfers and shortâterm funding
- Identify cash pressures early and elevate appropriately
- Review payment run schedules and prepare payment profiles based on cashflow availability
- Review and monitor the invoice approval process
- Oversee credit control and support overdue debt escalation
- Complete weekly bank reconciliations across all group companies
- Manage monthly payroll prepared by an outsourced provider
- Review payroll reports and ensure accuracy
- Process payroll journals and reconcile PAYE and pension control accounts
- Maintain payrollârelated schedules
- A handsâon finance professional with experience in an SME environment - a flexible allârounder who is confident communicating at senior leadership level and working well from their own initiative
- Strong technical accounting skills and multiâentity accounting experience (formal qualification not essential but a benefit - AAT/ACCA/CIMA)
- Confidence in cashflow management, forecasting and month/yearâend processes
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across teams / business partnering
- Someone who enjoys improving processes, taking ownership, and building structure
- Previous Xero experience (desirable)
