Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant - Accountancy Practice
Hornchurch (Hybrid)
£25,000 - £35,000

An established and growing accounting firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join its friendly and supportive team.

You will work with a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies across a range of sectors.

  • Role Responsibilities
  • Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Process and review bookkeeping records and management accounts.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Support clients with cloud accounting software and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
  • Liaise directly with clients to obtain records, resolve queries and provide ongoing support.
  • Assist with personal and corporate tax return preparation.
  • Support payroll processing, including auto-enrolment and RTI submissions.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and maintaining accurate client records.
  • Provide general accounting and reporting support to senior team members.
  • Complete ad hoc accounting duties as required.
  • Personal Requirements
  • Experience within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
  • Minimum AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounts preparation experience gained within practice.
  • Working knowledge of IRIS, Quick Books, Sage, Free Agent and payroll software.
  • Good understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Confident client facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK is essential; sponsorship is not available.
