Butler Rose Public Practice is recruiting an experienced Audit Responsible Individual (RI) for a highly regarded and well-established Central London-based accounting firm. This is a senior leadership role offering a clear pathway to Salaried Partner, working closely with the firm's Audit and Accounts Partners to develop and grow the audit function.
The Role
- You will take overall responsibility for the firm's audit portfolio, ensuring compliance with UK auditing standards, ethical requirements and regulatory expectations.
- As RI, you will sign audit opinions, oversee audit quality, lead regulatory inspections, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the audit practice.
Role Requirements
- Act as Responsible Individual under the firm's Audit Registration
- Sign audit reports and maintain ultimate responsibility for audit opinions
- Oversee audit planning, execution, review and reporting
- Lead the firm's quality management framework (ISQM 1 & 2)
- Manage regulatory visits and implement any required remedial actions
- Act as lead audit contact for a portfolio of SME and group audits
- Provide technical expertise on complex audit and accounting matters
- Lead, mentor and develop audit teams at all levels
- Support recruitment, appraisals, training and staff development
- Contribute to practice growth, pricing, fee quotes and WIP management
- Support business development, tenders and client pitches
- Work collaboratively with partners to expand the audit and assurance offering
Person Requirements
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with significant audit experience
- RI status in the UK
- Proven experience signing audit opinions within SME or mid-tier practice
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, ISAs (UK) and ethical standards
- Background in a fast-paced, client-focused practice environment
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build senior client relationships
