A well-established and growing business based in North Lancaster is looking for a Stock Control & Goods In Operative to join its warehouse team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, reliable and hands-on, with a strong eye for detail and a genuine desire to contribute to a successful team. The business is going through an exciting period of growth, so we're looking for someone who can take ownership of the goods-in and stock control process while supporting the wider warehouse operation.

The Role

As a Goods In & Stock Control Operative, you'll be responsible for ensuring incoming goods are received, checked, recorded and stored accurately, while maintaining high levels of stock accuracy across the warehouse. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving, unloading and checking incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Inspecting goods for damage, discrepancies or quality issues and reporting any concerns.
  • Accurately booking stock into internal systems.
  • Labelling and allocating stock to the correct storage locations.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Carrying out regular stock counts and cycle counts.
  • Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies.
  • Monitoring stock levels and highlighting low or excess stock.
  • Supporting picking, packing and dispatch when required.
  • Ensuring goods are handled and stored safely.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.
  • Following all company health & safety procedures.

About You

We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing a job properly and who is keen to become a valued member of the team. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a warehouse, goods-in or stock control environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good basic IT skills; experience using stock or inventory systems would be advantageous.
  • Good time management and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and resolve problems effectively.
  • A proactive, positive and adaptable approach.
  • Good reliability and punctuality.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
  • A forklift licence would be desirable but is not essential.

Working Hours

The role operates between:

  • Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 6:00am - 4:00pm

Example shift pattern:

  • Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 3:00pm, 7am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm
  • Friday: 6am - 3pm or 7:00am - 4:00pm
