An established and growing accountancy practice is seeking an experienced General Practice Senior to join its professional and supportive team in St Ives. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounts professional with strong general practice experience to work with a varied portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. The role offers exposure to accounts preparation, tax compliance, VAT, cloud accounting and client advisory work within a collaborative environment that encourages development and progression.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare accounts and tax compliance work for a portfolio of business clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Produce draft accounts and tax computations for manager or partner review.
- Prepare VAT returns and liaise with clients regarding submissions and queries.
- Assist clients with cloud accounting software including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
- Support with payroll, CIS returns and company secretarial duties where required.
- Undertake audit and non-audit assignments as the senior/in-charge on engagements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication.
- Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
- Mentor, supervise and review the work of junior team members.
- Work closely with managers and senior leadership to support wider business objectives.
Personal Requirements
- AAT qualified and/or ACA/ACCA part-qualified or nearing qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance.
- Good understanding of UK GAAP and disclosure requirements.
- Experience using cloud accounting software.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and work to deadlines.
- Confident liaising directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Non-qualified candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
