The Role

As Head of Supply Chain, you will lead, mentor, and strengthen a relatively new and developing team within an established supply chain function. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with SME manufacturing experience, particularly in businesses that build physical products in-house and rely on a wide and varied supplier/commodity base.

You will partner closely with operations, procurement, planning, and logistics, providing both strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to ensure the business continues to perform at an industry-leading standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a Purchasing team that is established but relatively new and still growing in capability.
  • Oversee supply chain disciplines, including procurement and stores but with the long-term business goal of including Group wide supply-chain.
  • Drive improvements in processes, systems, planning accuracy, and supplier performance.
  • Manage a diverse commodity base and large multi-source supplier network in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure secure, cost-effective, and high-quality continuity of supply.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across operations, engineering, finance, and leadership.
  • Maintain a hands-on leadership style, balancing strategic priorities with operational involvement.
  • Develop the team's capability, confidence, and performance, embedding best practices across the function.

Who We’re Looking For

  • An experienced Supply Chain Manager or senior supply chain professional ready to take the next step.
  • Proven people-management experience—you must be able to build, guide, and empower a team.
  • Experience within SME manufacturing where products are built in-house and materials are sourced from varied commodity groups.
  • Strong stakeholder-management, communication, and leadership presence.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable driving day-to-day operations in a dynamic environment.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to implement improvements and lead a growing team.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Join an organisation with rich heritage and an industry-leading reputation.
  • Lead and develop an established but evolving supply chain team with real opportunity to make an impact.
  • Play a key role within a respected SME manufacturer during an exciting period of operational development.
  • Influence and shape supply chain performance with full support from the leadership team.
  • Competitive salary up to £85k + car allowance and hybrid flexibility.
