Our client, a large international manufacturing organisation based in Wantage, is seeking an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to join their team on an initial 3-month contract.

This is a hands‐on role supporting the delivery of an accurate and efficient payroll service within a busy, fast‐paced environment. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you'll play a key role in payroll processing, compliance, employee query resolution, and day‐to‐day payroll operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting end‐to‐end payroll processing
  • Managing salary changes, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
  • Resolving payroll queries and discrepancies
  • Assisting with HMRC compliance, RTI submissions, and year‐end activities
  • Preparing payroll reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Supporting and guiding payroll team members

Key skills required:

  • Previous UK payroll experience is essential
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Sage, SAP, or similar
  • Strong Excel and data management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‐solving abilities
  • The ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
