Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting for a Product Engineer on behalf of a well-established and highly successful manufacturing organisation based in Exeter.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to join a forward-thinking business, supporting the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within a technically advanced production environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Product Engineering Team Leader, you will play a key role in developing, implementing and maintaining best practice across product engineering activities.
You will work closely with production, quality and customer-facing teams to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, meet customer requirements and achieve the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes and engineering standards.
- Provide technical support to production teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products.
- Manage engineering projects and product-related programmes from concept through to implementation.
- Utilise CAD, CNC and 3D modelling tools to support manufacturing activities.
- Apply Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework and process variation.
- Analyse manufacturing data and prepare qualification, scrap and rework reports.
- Implement process controls and dimensional improvements to enhance product quality.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs through process optimisation and waste reduction.
- Present technical information and project updates to a range of stakeholders.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment in line with company standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
- A Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience using CAD software and/or tooling design principles.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
- A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable Experience
- Injection moulding, ceramics processing or related manufacturing technologies.
- Experience supporting complex production environments and process development activities.
