Butler Rose Public Practice is delighted to be supporting a growing accountancy practice in the recruitment of a Personal Tax Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a large and varied personal tax portfolio while playing a key role in developing the tax function. This role would suit an experienced personal tax professional with strong advisory expertise who enjoys building long‑term client relationships, leading a team, and delivering both compliance and advisory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 300‑350 personal tax clients
  • Deliver personal tax compliance alongside advisory work across Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Income Tax, Residence & Domicile, and wider tax planning
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, acting as their main point of contact
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and provide clear, practical advice
  • Review personal tax returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
  • Lead, mentor and support junior members of the tax team
  • Work closely with Directors on complex advisory projects and departmental growth

Key Requirements

  • CTA or ATT qualification highly beneficial; qualified by experience (QBE) candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Significant experience in UK personal tax within an accountancy practice
  • Strong personal tax advisory experience is essential
  • Previous experience managing a client portfolio
  • Team management or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
