You will take ownership of a varied client portfolio while acting as a key point of support for junior colleagues. The role suits someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical work with mentoring, problem-solving and building strong client relationships.
Role Responsibilities:- Managing a varied portfolio of audit and non-audit clients, ensuring work is completed accurately, compliantly and on time.
- Preparing statutory accounts and associated submissions, alongside corporation tax, VAT and payroll deliverables where required.
- Reviewing and reconciling client records using a combination of Excel and cloud-based accounting software.
- Overseeing day-to-day progress of client files and audits, ensuring work meets internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Acting as a trusted point of contact for clients, responding to queries professionally and proactively.
- Supporting, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior team members, encouraging development and consistency.
- Making effective use of accounting platforms such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks to improve efficiency and client experience.
- Qualified accountant from a practice background (ACA or ACCA).
- Previous experience supervising, reviewing or mentoring junior staff within an accountancy firm.
- Strong technical grounding and a good understanding of professional and regulatory requirements.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build rapport with both clients and colleagues.
- Well organised, able to manage competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
