A well-established, top 50 accountancy firm is seeking an R&D Tax Assistant Manager or Manager to join its growing tax team. This role will focus primarily on R&D tax relief projects, working closely with senior leadership to deliver high-quality advisory and compliance services while supporting the continued growth of the firm's specialist offering.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality R&D tax assignments with minimal senior review.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on R&D tax matters, including HMRC enquiries.
  • Supervise and delegate work effectively to junior team members.
  • Identify and develop new R&D tax opportunities within existing client relationships.
  • Respond to enquiries from prospective clients.
  • Oversee onboarding procedures, AML compliance, WIP management and billing processes.
  • Support team development through coaching, mentoring and leading meetings.
  • Maintain strong technical and compliance standards across client engagements.

Personal Requirements

  • CTA and/or ACA qualified.
  • Experience managing R&D tax portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of materiality and risk assessment within R&D tax assignments.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning and delegation abilities.
  • Experience with Patent Box and/or Video Games Tax Relief would be advantageous.
