This opportunity has arisen due to continued growth within a highly innovative and technically advanced engineering organisation operating within the aerospace sector. This is a pivotal role focused on driving sales growth across the UK, Europe, and Rest of World markets (excluding the US), with a strong emphasis on developing and expanding business within the military aerospace sector.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will take ownership of both new business development and strategic account management, selling complex, high-value engineering solutions into aerospace platforms. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the aerospace sales cycle, where design and qualification phases can extend over multiple years. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities early, nurturing long-term relationships, and converting them into sustainable revenue streams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all sales activities into the aerospace and defence sectors
- Developing and executing strategic sales plans with clear growth targets
- Building and managing key customer relationships across OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
- Driving new business acquisition while growing existing accounts
- Navigating complex, long sales cycles within aerospace programmes
- Collaborating cross-functionally to deliver integrated technical solutions
- Maintaining accurate pipeline and forecasting data via CRM systems
- Ensuring compliance with export regulations and international standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you must combine strong commercial acumen with a solid technical foundation.
Essential requirements
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Proven experience selling technical products or systems into the aerospace sector
- Demonstrable success in both new business development and account management
- Experience managing long and complex sales cycles
- Strong understanding of engineering-led solutions and applications
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Desirable
- Experience working with defence organisations or MoD
- Knowledge of export controls / ITAR regulations
- Background in electronic systems, lighting, or electro-mechanical products
