Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant with a background in payroll? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a unique and values-driven organisation set in beautiful surroundings on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Working closely with the Head of Finance and Payroll Lead, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, supporting financial operations, and maintaining high standards of financial administration.
The Role
- Process weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Manage payroll queries and maintain compliance documentation.
- Post purchase and sales ledger entries into Sage 200.
- Reconcile petty cash, bank accounts, supplier and customer accounts.
- Prepare and raise invoices, payments and credit control activities.
- Assist with monthly journals, reconciliations and management accounts.
- Support financial reporting, year-end accounts and audit processes.
- Maintain financial records, spreadsheets and process documents.
About You
- Experience in payroll processing (Sage 50 Payroll experience desirable).
- Previous use of Sage 200 and strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge of finance operations including ledgers, reconciliations and journals.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- A proactive and positive approach, with strong communication skills.
- AAT qualification (desirable but not essential).
This role offers variety and responsibility within a supportive finance team. Flexibility can be offered on hours and salary will be dependent on skills and experience.
