Finance Business Partner – Manufacturing, Plymouth

Key Responsibilities

  • Business partner Operations with full P&L ownership and performance insight
  • Support budgets, forecasts and manufacturing plans, including variance analysis

  • Use Power BI to create dashboards, reports and trend analysis

About You

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or qualified by experience
  • Manufacturing experience essential

Finance Manager – South Cumbria (Hybrid)

Butler Rose Finance Lancashire & Cumbria are delighted to be working with one of our long‑standing clients to recruit a Finance Manager into a pivotal, senior role within their finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career, working closely with a highly experienced Financial Controller and acting as their number two.

Based in a beautiful South Cumbrian location, this role offers the chance to combine a senior, influential finance position with an excellent quality of life. The business offers one day per week of hybrid working and is easily commutable from Lancaster, Ulverston, Windermere, Kendal and surrounding areas.

The Role at a Glance

  • Salary up to £60,000
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing management accounting, strengthening financial controls and supporting operational decision‑making across the business. This is a hands‑on role with real influence, ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting with business partnering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, supported by meaningful analysis and commentary.
  • Take ownership of the month‑end close process, including journals, balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
  • Produce consolidated financial reports as required by the Finance Director.
  • Maintain and develop robust financial controls in line with internal policies and statutory obligations.
  • Support cash‑flow forecasting and short‑to‑medium‑term financial planning.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors during the annual audit.
  • Support the preparation of year‑end statutory accounts, including technical accounting reviews and detailed working papers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, including FRS102, and appropriate governance frameworks.
  • Assist the Finance Director with tax and VAT matters, including partial exemption considerations where relevant.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with budget holders and department managers.
  • Help non‑finance stakeholders understand financial performance, cost drivers and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide clear insights and recommendations to support profitability and informed decision‑making.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process across the business.
  • Review existing finance processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and reporting quality.
  • Support finance system enhancements or upgrades.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.

About You

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Strong management accounting experience, ideally within a complex or multi‑entity environment.
  • Confident working closely with senior stakeholders and acting as a trusted finance partner.

Butler Rose is currently recruiting a Senior Management Accountant for a great employer in East Cornwall.

Key duties

  • Managing a team of management accountants, including recruitment, coaching, setting objectives, and conducting regular appraisals.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors to support smooth audit processes and ensure all documentation is in order.
  • Working closely with site‑based teams to assist with annual budget planning and year‑end statutory reporting requirements.
  • Providing technical accounting guidance and support to colleagues across the Shared Services function.
  • Leading or contributing to process improvement initiatives and project‑based work to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Developing and refining KPI dashboards and performance reporting across all Shared Services Centre departments.
  • Overseeing intercompany transactions to ensure charges are processed accurately and within agreed timescales.
