The Role
Reporting into the operations function, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules, ensuring materials and resources are aligned with demand, and supporting the smooth flow of work throughout the manufacturing process. Working closely with production, supply chain, stores and quality teams, you will help identify potential risks, resolve scheduling challenges and maintain accurate planning information within the business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update and manage short‑term production schedules in line with customer requirements and operational priorities.
- Monitor work order progress and adjust plans to reflect changing production demands and resource availability.
- Track material requirements and collaborate with supply chain teams to proactively address shortages and delivery risks.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse and quality departments to ensure work is released and completed according to plan.
- Analyse planning and operational data to support effective decision‑making and improve delivery performance.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP system information to support planning and inventory control activities.
- Communicate schedule changes, priorities and potential delays to key stakeholders across the business.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, productivity and planning accuracy.
- Assist in the prioritisation and progression of components and assemblies through manufacturing processes.
- Produce planning reports and performance updates as required.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a manufacturing planning or materials coordination environment and be comfortable working in a fast‑paced operational setting.
Requirements
- Experience within a Production Planner, Materials Planner, Manufacturing Planner or similar role.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling and material planning principles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing business requirements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across departments.
- A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
