An established and growing practice is looking for an AAT qualified practice accountant to work with a varied portfolio of predominantly owner-managed businesses, the role will involve a hands-on mix of bookkeeping, VAT returns, year-end accounts and tax returns.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with clients and able to take responsibility for bringing bookkeeping and VAT work through to the required stage with minimal supervision.
The role would suit someone with practice experience who is either studying towards ACCA/ACA or is keen to begin professional studies.
- Role Responsibilities
- Working with a portfolio of predominantly OMB clients.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Carrying out bookkeeping and maintaining accurate accounting records.
- Preparing year-end accounts.
- Preparing year-end tax returns.
- Dealing with client queries and providing day-to-day accountancy support.
- Working independently across a varied client base, with minimal supervision.
- Using accounting and tax software including VT, Taxpad, Xero and Quick Books.
- Personal Requirements
- AAT qualified or equivalent.
- Experience working within a UK-based accountancy practice.
- Either currently studying towards ACCA/ACA or keen to progress towards a professional qualification.
- Practical experience across bookkeeping, VAT, accounts preparation and tax returns.
- Able to work with a good degree of autonomy and take ownership of client work.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Comfortable working with owner-managed businesses.
- A full driving licence and access to a car (essential).
