An established and growing accountancy firm is seeking an Accounts & Audit Manager or Assistant Manager to join its Corporate Services team in Bury St Edmunds. This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified professional looking to take ownership of a varied portfolio, build strong client relationships and mentor junior team members within a supportive and collaborative environment. The role offers a mix of audit, accounts and compliance work across a diverse client base ranging from owner‑managed businesses to larger corporate groups.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion for a varied portfolio of clients.
- Manage accounts preparation and corporate tax compliance assignments.
- Review audit and accounts files prior to Partner or Senior Manager review.
- Supervise, mentor and support junior staff, providing regular feedback and development guidance.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and meetings.
- Prepare budgets, manage client deadlines and monitor workflow delivery.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and support wider business development activities.
- Attend client premises and develop a strong understanding of client operations.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and internal procedures.
- Participate in team training initiatives, technical development and continuous improvement projects.
Personal Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified with relevant audit and accounts experience.
- Strong technical knowledge across audit, accounts preparation and corporate tax compliance.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
