Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a successful and growing manufacturing business in Somerset with the recruitment of a Finance Director.
This is a key appointment within the organisation, reporting directly to the Managing Director. We are seeking an experienced finance leader who can provide both strategic direction and hands-on financial leadership, helping to drive profitability, support growth plans and enhance operational performance.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner to the Managing Director, providing commercial insight, strategic challenge and financial expertise across all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
- Provide financial leadership and commercial insight to support decision-making across the organisation.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities, ensuring clear visibility of business performance.
- Deliver high-quality management information and reporting to support operational and strategic objectives.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Support investment decisions through financial analysis, modelling and commercial evaluation.
- Work closely with operational teams to improve profitability, efficiencies and business performance.
- Ensure robust financial controls, compliance and governance are maintained across the business.
- Manage key relationships with banking partners, auditors and external advisers.
- Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
About You
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Proven experience as a Finance Director, Head of Finance, or senior Financial Controller operating at leadership level.
- Strong manufacturing experience, ideally gained within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production-led environment.
- Demonstrable experience partnering with senior leadership teams and influencing strategic business decisions.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insight.
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and cash flow management skills.
- Experience managing working capital, treasury activities, and banking relationships.
- Proven track record of leading and developing finance teams.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic leadership and operational delivery.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships across operational, commercial, and finance functions.
