I'm pleased to be partnering with a successful accountancy practice in Leeds as they look to appoint an Audit & Accounts Assistant Manager/Manager to their team. They're looking for a career-driven and ambitious individual who wants more than just their next role and is keen to build a long-term career within the practice, with genuine opportunities for progression.

For the right individual, there is the potential to progress to Partner within the next 2-3 years, dependent on performance, leadership, client development and contribution to the continued growth of the firm.

Role Requirements

  • Manage audit assignments from planning through to completion.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors.
  • Review audit files and financial statements, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Identify risks and communicate findings and recommendations to clients.
  • Deliver assignments within budget and agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts and management accounts.
  • Prepare and review corporation tax and personal tax returns.
  • Provide practical accounting and tax advice to clients.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure all compliance work is accurate and completed on time.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Act as a key point of contact for client queries and meetings.
  • Understand clients' businesses and identify opportunities to add value.
  • Support Partners/Directors with client development and business growth.
  • Supervise, review and support junior and semi-senior staff.
  • Coach and mentor team members, providing technical guidance and feedback.
  • Allocate work and monitor progress against deadlines.
  • Contribute to staff training and development.

Personal Requirements

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent, or substantial relevant practice experience.
  • Strong experience within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Solid technical knowledge of audit, accounts and taxation.
  • Experience managing or supervising audit and accounts assignments.
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior and semi-senior staff.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Confident using accounting, audit and tax software.
  • Demonstrable ability to coach, mentor and develop junior team members.
