Planning Coordinator

We are seeking an organised and proactive Planning Coordinator to join a well-established manufacturing business in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning, production control or inventory professional to play a key role in coordinating production schedules, managing inventory levels and ensuring customer delivery requirements are achieved.
Working closely with production, sales, shipping and other teams, you will help ensure operational efficiency, inventory accuracy and on-time delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer demand plans and forecasts to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
- Coordinate production schedules to support on-time delivery targets.
- Raise and manage sales orders within the ERP system.
- Monitor inventory levels and support effective inventory control processes.
- Issue production documentation and route cards to the shop floor.
- Review completed production documentation to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Complete production transactions and update systems accurately.
- Reserve finished goods to meet customer shipping requirements.
- Track testing and quality approval status to support delivery schedules.
- Maintain inventory databases and resolve stock discrepancies with production teams.
- Raise purchase requisitions for operational requirements.
- Provide holiday cover for scheduling, invoicing and associated planning activities.
- Work collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure efficient production control and shipping operations.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in production planning, production control or inventory management.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with different departments.
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Good IT skills and experience using ERP or production planning systems.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
