We are recruiting for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join a successful business based on the outskirts of Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take their first step into the finance profession, with no previous accounting experience required.

About the Role

As part of a well-established Accounts team, you'll support the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices and payments, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date. You'll work closely with suppliers and internal departments while developing a strong foundation in core accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Matching supplier invoices against purchase orders
  • Raising invoices manually onto the company's ERP system
  • Processing and maintaining accurate supplier records
  • Assisting with weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Dealing with supplier queries and resolving invoice discrepancies
  • Supporting the wider finance team with accounts payable activities
  • Ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and within agreed timescales

What we're looking for

We're looking for an organised and detail-focused individual who is eager to build a career within accounting and finance.

Ideally, you'll:

  • Hold or be studying towards an AAT qualification (minimum Level 2)
  • Have a genuine interest in developing a career in finance
  • Possess strong numerical and administrative skills
  • Be confident communicating with suppliers and colleagues
  • Have good IT skills and be comfortable learning new systems
  • Be highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Be able to reliably commute to the office location on the outskirts of Exeter

Previous accounting or finance experience is not required, making this an excellent opportunity for school leavers, college leavers, career changers or individuals seeking their first role within finance.
