The Environmental Services Technician cleans and services an assigned area of the Hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. Adheres to Butler Hospital Service Standards.
Schedule: 40/80, Full-Time, Days, Every Other Weekend/Holiday
I. Responsibilities:
- Maintains a cleaning cart in an orderly condition, keeping the cart fully stocked with required cleaning supplies.
- Responsible for removal of all waste including: regular rubbish, cardboard, recycle confidential paper, hazardous material.
- Follow proper procedures concerning hazardous waste disposal and handling.
- Cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms completely.
- Replenishes all supplies: soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and paper towels.
- Daily disinfecting of (all assigned areas) offices, corridors, elevators, stairwells, patient rooms and cleaning/making beds that are vacant due to patient discharge or transfer.
- Performs project work such as wall washing, window washing, curtain changing with use of ladder, cleaning of waste containers, floor buffing, refinishing floors, floor scrubbing, carpet cleaning.
- Operation of heavy duty electrical equipment: wet vacuums, extractors, buffers, floor machines, auto scrubbers, upholstery machines, pressure washers, vacuums, steamers
- Sweeps, mops, wet-washes, and vacuums floors.
- Moves furniture and completes conference room setups.
- Collects soiled linens and transports to laundry; returns clean linen to proper linen closets.
- Turns and changes mattresses and completes bed moves
- Disinfects areas by scrubbing or wiping.
- Completes assigned work orders.
- Operates hospital dump truck to move supplies, furniture , or transport waste to the compactors.
- Reports any mechanical failures and negative conditions.
- Provide Training to new or current employees when needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Demonstrates competence and compassion in day-to-day interactions with patients, family members, or friends that may be present, either as patients or visitors at Butler Hospital.

Reports to: EVS Manager or Supervisor(s)
Other Relationship: Patients, Family members, all other hospital staff and employees
III. Qualifications:
Must have a valid driver\’s license.
Training and Experience: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. On the job training is provided.
