About The BUSY School… The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, and allied health services. The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO) offering flexible access to our program for all students across Queensland. Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team supports the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increase their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes. Our teams’ focus is centred on re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon graduation from Year 12.
About the Role
This is a growth position within the team as we meet the needs of the local community. We are looking for someone to step into a meaningful leadership position where you’ll shape the learning and wellbeing journey of young people who need it most. This unique role blends 0.5 Learning Support Teacher with 0.5 Learning Support Coordinator, giving you the opportunity to both teach and lead within a supportive, values-driven school community. As a key member of our campus leadership team, you’ll bring BUSY Schools’ wellbeing and support strategy to life. You’ll champion inclusive education, embed trauma-informed practice, and use data to drive targeted interventions that help disengaged students reconnect with learning. Your work will strengthen case management processes, guide wellbeing initiatives, and ensure every student is genuinely known, valued, and supported. At BUSY Schools, you’ll help create a culture where young people feel safe, empowered, and able to thrive—academically, socially, and personally.

About You
We’re looking for an educator who brings both heart and expertise to their practice. To thrive in this role, you will have:
- A relevant teaching qualification and a genuine passion for supporting diverse learners
- Full or provisional Queensland teacher registration, with eligibility for full registration
- Confidence delivering and adapting curriculum within a secondary school environment
- Strong knowledge of inclusive education, with the ability to tailor support for students with varied learning needs
- Demonstrated experience in case management, ensuring students receive coordinated and effective support
- The ability to interpret wellbeing and academic data to design targeted, evidence-based interventions
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to connect with students, families, and colleagues
- Experience working with young people who present with complex needs, including coordinating wraparound supports and maintaining clear, accurate documentation
- Eligibility to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check with no disqualifying outcomes
