About the role
You’ll drive one of our refuse collection vehicles on a mixed round covering commercial trade waste customers and household collections across Greater Manchester.
You're responsible for the vehicle and for how our customers see us — for a lot of our customers, you are the only person from this company they will ever meet.
What you'll do
- Drive and take full responsibility for the safe operation of an RCV on assigned commercial and domestic rounds
- Complete thorough daily walk-round checks and report defects properly and promptly
- Collect, load and empty bins and containers, including physical bin handling
- Manoeuvre and reverse safely in tight residential streets, yards and commercial premises.
- Return bins tidily to their collection point.
- Identify and correctly handle contaminated or non-conforming waste
- Complete round sheets, digital records and any weighbridge documentation accurately
- Comply with drivers' hours, tachograph, WTD and all relevant waste-carrier regulations
- Report incidents, near misses and customer issues honestly and immediately
Essential
- Full UK Category C (Class 2) licence
- Valid Driver CPC card
- Valid digital tachograph card
- No more than (6) penalty points; no DR, DD or IN endorsements
- Physically capable of repetitive bin handling in all weather
- Able to reliably start at (05:30)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Previous refuse, recycling or waste collection experience
- Experience of multi-drop or route-based work
- Rear-steer or bin-lift experience
- Banksman or manual handling training
