Work Based Assessor – Childcare & Teaching Assistants
Job Purpose
The Child Care Department offers a range of qualifications, including childcare, teaching assistance, and playwork. The assessor is responsible for recruiting, retaining, and ensuring the completion of a standardised caseload of learners enrolled in a Childcare or Children & Young People qualification. The role involves delivering training, assessing and assuring the quality of learners’ work, monitoring progress, and attending Programme Area and standardisation meetings.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, retain and manage a caseload of learners in child‑care and teaching assistance programmes.
- Deliver training, conduct assessments and guarantee the quality and standards of learners’ work.
- Oversee learners’ knowledge and practical competence in workplace settings.
- Support and encourage marketing activities and engage with employer events for multiple qualifications.
- Monitor learner progress, ensure timely completion and attend relevant meetings.
- Plan workplace visits logically, balancing travel constraints with learner needs.
- Represent the childcare assessor team, promote courses and encourage recruitment.
- Ensure service quality meets the highest standards, provides value for money and satisfies employer and learner needs, reflecting the college’s mission, values and aims.
